Nokia E63 announced

Posted by swati pathak on December 6, 2008

Nokia E63

Nokia have announced a new addition to their E-Series line of handsets – the E63. Essentially, the E63 could be viewed as a slightly cut-down E71, what with a plastic, not metal construction, lower res camera, no built-in GPS, support for HSDPA data connectivity, no memory card in the box, though, on the flipside, it does come equipped with an LED flash (which can also be used as a flash), and a 3.5 mm jack (a first for an E-Series device.

Arguably, the most appealing aspet of the E63 is its price – at just €199, before taxes and subsidies, this makes it incredibly appealing. The E63 will be available in a choice of blue or red, and should be available, within the next few weeks.

Technical specifications go as follows:

  • Display: 2.36″, QVGA resolution, shows up to sixteen million colours
  • OS: Symbian S60, version 3.1
  • Connectivity: Quad-band GSM, Dual-band UMTS
  • Camera: 2 MP, with LED flash
  • Memory: 110 MB internal, MicroSDHC expansion slot
  • Extras: Wi-Fi, Nokia Maps, Bluetooth and USB 2.0, 3.5 mm jack, FM Radio with RDS
  • Weight: 126 grams
  • Dimensions: 113 x 59 x 13 mm

Nokia’s next line of Comes With handsets to focus on music or gaming?

Posted by swati pathak on December 6, 2008

Nokia’s Comes With Music service is certainly an interesting one. Really, on paper, it looks destined to be a success, but, as the saying goes, time will indeed tell. Regardless of ts level of success,it seems that Nokia is already looking into the next like of Comes With handsets. On the subject of a possible gaming, or movie-based line of Comes With handsets, company executive Tom Erskine said that the company is being “open minded” on the matter. And, it would seem that Nokia has EA’s support on thie gaming aspect, if it indeed were to come to fruition, with the company’s European Marketing Director saying that the company would be “supportive” on any creative ideas handset manufacturers come up with.

Posted by swati pathak on December 6, 2008

In the UK, Nokia’s Comes With Music service, which allows users to download as many tracks, as they like, for free, to keep for up to a year, may soon be supporting the N96, in the UK. Currently, the service supports the 5310, and N95 8GB, on both a Pay As You Go, and contract price plans. It’s said that the service will add support for Nokia’s N96, before the Christmas period -so, that’ll be in the next few weeks. As of yet, it’s not know if the N96 will be available with the service, on Pay As You Go, or just on a contract plan.

Review

The Nokia 9300 smartphone is like a little brother of the Nokia 9500 Communicator. It shares many of the features of the 9500, but misses out on others. Physically, the two devices are similar, with both having the benefit of a full QWERTY keyboard and a very large internal display (640 x 200 pixels, 65,000 colours). The 9300 is considerably smaller and lighter, but still a bit of a brick when compared to normal phones.
